Michael Greenmichaelsm

Michael has received critical praise for his ongoing performance as Dr. King in Jeff Stetson’s  “The Meeting” at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black culture and venues across the Tri-State and Nationally.  Other roles of note include Michael in Esther Armahs’ Savior at The Dwyer Cultural Center, Sam in “Blues for an Alabama Sky” (Our Place Theatre-Boston), Reverend Ambrose in “A Lesson Before Dying” (New Repertory Theatre-Boston), the Governor in “The Blacks” (Classical Theatre of Harlem-New York),Michael in “Blues Train” (National Black Theatre-New York), and Moses in “Camp Logan” (Victoria Five Theatre-New York). Michael can be seen on CBS’s “Walker Texas Ranger” and can be heard as the voice of Uncle Al on Nickelodeon’s “Little Bill”.

For the past eleven years, Michael has been the drama instructor for the Artists Collective in Hartford, Ct. and Teaching Artist for Medgar Evers College English Department’s “Re-envisioning Ourselves through Literature” founded by Dr. Brenda Greene.

As Producer / Director of Shades of Truth Theatre for the past 12 years, Michael Green is committed to presenting positive theatre that is both provocative and educational while illuminating the total Black Experience.

He Co wrote Whistle in Mississippi: The Lynching of Emmett Till with Daniel Carlton and Peace Speaks: The Words and Wisdom of King & Ghandi with Christine Melton.

Shades of Truth Theatre in collaboration with Voza Rivers/ New Heritage Theatre Group has produced Celeste Bedford Walker’s Black Wall Street and Camp Logan. We have also presented Jeff Stetson’s The Meeting at various venues in New York and across the country.
